Are you the adventurous type of person? Do you enjoy hanging out with nature? Do you want to escape the busy life in the city? Well this is the place to be.
PALAYPAY FALLS
Pamplona, Negros Oriental
This nature wonder is located in Brgy. Abante, Pamplona, Negros Oriental. About an hour and a half to two hours drive from Dumaguete City. Brgy. Abante is a mountain barangay of Pamplona and the local government had made some efforts to develop the place. It has been said the they are trying to promote this little paradise as one of their tourist spots. Cottages and a foot bridge were built to give locals and tourists a convenient way to enjoy the place for FREE.
How to go there
Pffft. To be happy honest, this is the hardest part of the adventure. Even with the efforts of the local government to promote this as a tourist spot, traveling and finding the exact falls was really difficult. Once you have passed the National Highway, a small signage indicating the falls location can be seen. And when you have entered the road where the signage was pointing to, there were still a lot of crossroads with out any indications which road is heading to Palaypay Falls. Not only that, the road was as bad as what you can imagine.
When we asked a local how long will it take for us to arrive in the tourist spot, he said that it will only take 30 minutes from Pamplona. He also added that the road can be easily passed by a motorcycle. Well, it took us 2 hours. The road is full of big volcanic rocks and were not even cemented which gave our motorcylcles some hard time.
Most of the time, there were no places to ask for directions, since the place was really isolated. We even thought that there will be a place to eat along the way, but we were wrong. Even Sari-sari stores were hard to find. Luckilly, we were able to find one sari-sari store and had a break. We were really not prepared when we went there. We don't have anything with us like food, because we were in the impression that we can just eat in a carenderia nearby. So what we did, we bought some biscuits in the sari-sari store and some tuna in cans which serves us our lunch for that day. Hahahaha. Even in the falls location, there were no stores, so you better bring your own food before you go there. But after that 2 hour drive, we were amazed on the beauty of the place.
We right away dipped into the cold fresh blue water of the falls. It was really relaxing. Since its summer, people are looking for cold springs and rivers to fight the heat. And Palaypay Falls is one of the best choices to take. No wonder why there were bunch of people when we went there because of its amazing beauty and its cold water. Most of them were not first timers like us. They kept on coming back even with the bad road. You will really be mesmerized on how the place was preserved.
Will I Come Back?
Definitely Yes if I will be riding a car. Going there with a motorcylcle is really difficult and dangerous.
So for those adventurous types of people with out much budget, this place is really for you.
